It is hard to believe that May is half-over and summer underway. Time has been flying by and I have both good and not-so-good news to report.

The extended daylight, and warming sunny days seem to have re-energized and rejuvenated the staff and local woodsmen! As we push paperwork in a nice warm office, local crews have been delivering cords of wood for the hangar wood boiler. We are very appreciative of these efforts.

Kukaklek Culture Camp

The October 5th weekend at Kukaklek Lake Culture Camp was the fall highlight for 5 students, 5 elders, 5 chaperones from Igiugig Village and 2 researchers with the University of Alaska Fairbanks DEER STUDY http://www.uaf.edu/deer/.

The summer may have been a slow, chilly start, but activity has really ramped up this fall. The Igiugig Barge Landing Road was finally approved after three years of right-of-way issues. All of the work is already completed in a few weeks!
